Navigating Opportunities at Work (NOW) is the capstone experience of our career readiness suite. Led by a collaborative of local partners, JOCO WORKS seeks to positively impact the trajectory of the Johnston County workforce by exposing students to industry-leading professional development and training.
With the support of local employers, NOW provides structured, summer work-based learning (WBL) internships specifically for Johnston County Public Schools (JCPS) International Baccalaureate (IB) Career Programme and NAF Academy 11th and 12th-grade students.
A Vital Graduation Requirement: Both the IB and NAF programs require Career and Technical Education (CTE) internships as part of their graduation certification. Work-based learning is a vital educational strategy that allows students to apply academic knowledge, refine workplace skills and graduate ready for both work and life.
This isn’t just a summer job — it’s a launchpad for your future. Participants in the NOW program benefit from:
By stepping out of the classroom and into a professional environment, you gain the real-world experience necessary to bridge the gap between high school and a successful career.
Students: For more information, contact your high school’s CTE Coordinator.
